I purchased this last year and it worked fine once I figured it out. At at the initiation it would shut off with the at the initiation of the two tanks emptied. I thought it was ruined. We purchased this humidifier to use year round (we stirred to Nevada) and have used it daily for the last 6 months. The 2 tanks are fairly easy to carry, and are easy to fill. This system is much easier than bringing the full unit to the sink. For the setting and the lack of damp in the desert I need to fill them every day. We have had to change out the filters twice so far, and as long as you are gentle with installing them, there are no issues putting the new ones in. (we have very hard fill up, which does deposit mineral deposits on the filters requiring substitution) The fins of the filters are glued on one side so that they flex to fit the holder.The actual humidifier has 3 fan speeds and is quite true in measuring the damp output. If you place the unit at a inner location, or near an air intake for your HVAC system, it does do the full household up to 2000 check feet. It can be cumbersome to sterile out the interior of the unit which holds the 2 tanks (there is a left and right tank), and there seems to be no easy way to sterile off the fan blades.

I don't have rusty water in my home, and nothing at this time ever gets rust stained, not sinks, tubs, clothing, etc.Further, the way I know there's mold buildup is how itchy my eyes get and it goes away as soon as I bleach the unit out. With the old filters, that has never happened before a week's time, but I've had to bleach the unit twice as often awaited to severe allergic reactions since using this filter. Not only is it not anti microbial, it's apparently extremely well-organized at on the rise mold. Cleaning it stops the allergy symptoms. These filters not only don't last long, they appear to be a very well-organized medium for on the rise material that's harmful to your health.

The tank is made of hard fake and will not survive even the slightest fall. Had the tank been made of a more rubberized fake, I would have given this unit a additional star. From then on the unit has been effective just so as advertised.Pros:1) The unit works as advertised;2) Consumer Benefit is void and tries hard to help;3) Tank doesn't leak & is easy to fill, filter basically accessible;4) Low-priced unit (when on sale).Cons:1) As an evaporative unit (ie it wicks fill up onto a "filter" over which a fan then blows) it is best only for a tiny room;2) If you are used to a pretty calm down room then the fans will provide an omnipresent humming that can be grating. As there are two speeds this can be minimized but not eliminated. For myself, I don't take a nap in the same room with this (or any) humidifier.I use this in a room in which I have several stringed instruments (acoustic guitars and a violin).
