I got this and the manufactured goods itself facility fine but what I didn't estimate is that when you put it on carpet that the fill up tray will build saving and soak into the carpet. I have used this humidifier for about a month now. In the winter I tend to get very dry skin and nasal congestion, which ordinarily turns into a full-blown cold, if I sleep in cool, dry winter air. My wife and I decided to try a humidifier to see if it would help. Here is my impression of the Air King so far:Unadorned construction--not anything fancy here. The unit in the end consists of a small thrilling water pump that pulls the water up into the unit and wets an evaporative pad. A fan then sucks air owing to the back of the humidifier, owing to the evaporative pad, and out the top to humidify the air. Not anything fancy, but the bottom line is that it works. One very nice feature is that the water pump pulls enough water to saturate the evaporative pad and the extra is recirculated owing to the unit, making it less likely for nasty stuff to build up in the tank.The humidifier has 3 speed settings, with no auto-on/off capability. We everlastingly run it on the lowest background, which is relatively quiet and does a decent job of humidifying the air. The two higher settings are louder and yield more dampness, but the lowest background is fine for us (1100 sq. ft. apartment).The low background is positively energy efficient for a humidifier. Since this is an evaporative humidifier, it uses much less energy than one that creates steam with a heating element. In the end, you're powering a small fan and a small thrilling water pump, which uses 22.7 watts on the lowest background, according to the education manual (I have not veteran that digit). So if you're in succession the unit overnight on low, it uses about 1/3 the electricity of leaving a 60 watt light bulb on overnight.The unit has a tank room of 1.75 gallons. On the peak background, the users manual says it will put 3 gallons into the air over a 24-hour period. I have not run the humidifier much on the peak background, but their 3 gallon claim seems about right. On the lowest background, we ordinarily refill the unit once in the daylight and once before bed to make sure it doesn't run out of water.We use filtered water (Brita) since it helps lower mineral deposits and keeps the water smelling fresh. It also must lower the digit of times you have to exchange the evaporative pad. After one month of operation, we have cleaned the evaporative pad twice by soaking it in a water/white vinegar key, which has vacant off most of the mineral deposits. My guess from our experience is that with heavy use, an evaporative pad must be replaced unevenly once every 45 days. The Air King evaporative pads are void for order on the internet for unevenly $5-$8 a piece.In synopsis:A lot of information in this assess, but that's since when I was looking for humidifiers I didn't think there was enough information void about these equipment to make an well-informed declaration. Given that uncertainty, I didn't want to spend $200+ on a touch and not like it or have it break in the first month. So I looked for a reasonable, less expensive model and decided to give this one a shot. I don't unhappiness my declaration at all. This unit has just so what I was looking for: low hold price, low maintenance cost and try, low energy use, quiet operation, good humidification for 1100 square feet, and so far, it hasn't kaput. If you're looking for those equipment, this humidifier is a solid scale.

Update: After 10 days of ownership where I knew I had to restore soon... The fill tank cracked when it slipped while I was trying to rest it on the edge of the tub (IT DOES NOT HAVE A FLAT EDGE) -- so it goes back. SAD! There are things that are right with this humidifier. If you keep on high, the sound is OK.. It looks gorgeous. Not enough reasons to get another one even if.This is a great price for it even if! I paid $70. at Home Depot. Search for this humidifier for other reviews. There are a crowd of harms with this unit. It's a shame the designers didn't test it first, but it's not worth the hassle or the money. The fan noise on low is halting, grating and loud. Faulty, I would say. The fill tank is trying to plan, straightforwardly delicate (and if you do find replacement it will only be the tank not the cap so save it!), and needs to be to the top once daily if you use it in a bedroom only at night, more if you use it all the time. This does NOT spray mist, those are ultrasonic misters and in my view, are not as good as this type of humidifier. Public have reviewed this humidifier naughtily, complaining that it does not mist = does not humidify but assure you that this does. In the end, it's simple - it "wicks" water into a honeycomb fiber filter (kinda like coconut fiber), the air passes owing to this wick and humidifies your air much the same way as a swamp cooler does. This is, in effect, a very small swamp cooler. Believe me, you will fill the one gallon+ tank, and that water will expire, so, it's inane somewhere! The air coming out is cool, and it really does do a good job and for public with hardwood floors, nice furniture, etc, you really shouldn't use an atomizer, those things, in my experience, get water all over the place and unless you can put the atomizer right next to your head (like, higher than your head on the headboard of a bed or something) they don't really work as well.You can easily replace the filters, if you clean them (properly) they will last a good 6 months and numerous companies make them, i recommend replacement at least each 6 months if you use it evenly, perhaps each 4 months.CONS: complaints about the difficult to maneuver tank/filling are accurate. I am a strong person so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but, just last night it finally happened - I had half filled the tank, dropped it in my tub from just under waist height and it horrified. The tank is not really thin, low-cost fake, but it is fake (resin, i think). it's not unbreakable and all i can say is, i guess they must make it even thicker. The tank cannot be balanced upright to fill, you have to hold it which earnings, if you're filling in a tub (it's tall and won't fit in most sinks outside of a kitchen sink) you will certainly have just one hand on it when you go to turn on/off water.On mine, i have by no means been able to figure out how to clean the actual fan, which like any fan, will eventually get roofed in layers of dust and whatnot. In my case (which i am sure is rare) this has not resulted in any sort of noticeable decrease in effectiveness, or fan unbalancing (noise, wobble, etc) but frankly, i am shocked it hasn't.A few months ago mine started to leak from the base and i noticed many complaints about this "mysterious" leak. I am a leak expert (it's my trade) so I quickly found the problem and it's a moderately easy fix if you're at all handy. The leaks tend to come from the base of the tank, where the clear fake joins the base fake which is a solid color. It's a factory, press fit. You need to clean and dry the tank with the cap off. Then take a high quality, pure silicone, clear sealant and from the inside of the tank, re-seal that tie thoroughly. take your time, be gently, and don't overdo it - it doesn't take much. Mine worked impeccably for many months and a high quality silicone like that will last decades - longer than the unit will i am sure.After i broke it i took a closer look at the tank and noticed that the fake had stress cracks in it - the sort i usually see on acrylis skylight lenses exposed to the sun for years and that is indicative of a poor resin they used. I think if they used a quality resin in the tank, the tank would not break so easily because i have to tell you, it's sweet thick resin (I know, i broke mine and i'd say it's a good 3mms).PROS:Some public complained about noise, mine was not loud and made a nice, white noise fan noise that helped me (and the wife) sleep. It by no means, ever made odd noises but perhaps the newer ones do. Mine was calm down.This thing works and it's not some new fangled technology. It's a swamp cooler, and it will humidify the air. It's not the same as an ultrasonic humidifier (each other humidifier is ultrasonic, far as i know) but in that implication, i prefer this. I owned countless ultrasonics and they seemed to all fail (get dirty, break, etc) and worst of all, would place a ring of wetness around it on the floor, dresser, coffee table, nightstand, etc, etc.Because of how this works, you can get away with just by tap water. in an even more sonic you need filtered water or you get hard water crud constantly.that said, it has it's faults and if you're a bit older, or don't have good strong hands or don't like bending over (to fill the stupid tank) and so forth, then it may not be for you. I don't understand why they can't work out a way to fill this without removing the tank. to me, it seems idiotically simple and in fact, if i had some resources, i could easily devise a tank that you didn't have to remove. A simple trap door in the front of the tank would allow one to simply add water with a small jug.Look, at 50 bucks or so, just know that each 6- years you are inane to have to replace it. welcome to the new (Chinese) planet because near as i can tell that applies to just about everything made out there now.They just don't make em like they used to!(yes it is made in Plates, of course)

I took a chance when buying it as there were no reviews for me to read. It is pretty much as advertised. The 1.6 gallon tank has an easy-to-pick-up soubriquet for refilling. The cap is a bit difficult to loosen, so I put a fat on the outfit to grease it up which helps. It does shut off automatically when dry/void. It's very quiet and does not leak. I put it next to my bed and it doesn't disturb my sleep at all. It's very easy to clean. Use a little colorless vinegar once a week. Just put the ceramic nano-silver filter in cup of colorless vinegar for ten summary and use a few drops of vinegar to clean the sensor. No need to buy new filters, cartridges, or mineralization pads. No way. I have a 10' x 16' bedroom and I am waking up including dry eyes and mouth even though our outdoor temperature lows have only been between 33 and 57 degrees Fahrenheit this week. It would only be worse when our heat is running more frequently during the night.2) If you are light sensitive when you go to bed and you intend to put this in your bedroom then this element is not for you. It radiates blue light in every direction. There is a sharp blue light bulb including the only purpose of shining through the water tank. It does not dim and I can't find a way to turn it off. The manufacturer's picture of the element shows a blue glow around it -- that's not for marketing, that's just so how it glows. It's extremely annoying.3) There is also a blue LED display that automatically dims a level after a minute or so but not near enough and there is no way to turn it completely off. If you put the element on automatic to control humidity then the LED situation is worse because the word "setup" flashes FOREVER while in that mode.4) Despite all of this irritating light there is no light where it force be positive: on the buttons of the element and its remote control! I tried to crank the element up to its most setting in the dark and even though I could see this sharp blue cube of water in the room I could not read the controls. I had to turn on the bedroom overhead light which disturbed my wife.5) From the same night-time-adjustment incident I discovered a further annoying thing: each button press beeps loudly. I prearranged this way and they did not ship to me within two days. I had to email them and then a day later I got a shipping notice.8) This product is far too much more pricey than other ultrasonic humidifiers and for no justifiable reason that I can discern.PROS1) The element operates quietly when compared to an evaporative humidifier.
