The humidifer arrived in good affect, looked good, and fit nicely in front of my (unused) fire. I liked the idea of life able to bring fill up to the unit and to refill from the top, but I agree with a additional assessor that the top is difficult to remove even as maintenance the filter in house and hard to mend if the filter has moved out of house. Upon rotary on, I found that low alacrity did not work at all; unit would run only on high alacrity. Unfortunately the unit is noisy at high alacrity. I also found the even if I could hear clicking at a low and high range when I twisted the humidity knob, the unit would only turn on when I manually moved the knob to that high range setting. The only way the unit would turn off was when I twisted off the fan switch. If I twisted the humidity knob to a point below the high range setting, it would never turn on by itself, even though the humidity in the room was varying. I returned the unit and requested a refund.

Chose this Essex based on my experience with the better 3-gal model. It has lone filter, constant size as my better with two, so with the intention of was a convenience. Sorry to say, it at home dead, with the on-off not effective, so I didn't get to hear if the fan is as calm down, my main priority pro the bedroom, and not going to leak, as the vaporizor types might do. bookburn

Approved this item from Amazon back in August 2010 for use in the fall when the weather gets cold and dry in New England. I opened it up the first week of November and found the brand plate coming off off (no big deal) and the motor wouldn't run lacking putting a tiny amount of hand difficulty on the speed adjustment knob.Carriage back for a refund.

I ordered this humidifier as I had numerous replacement wicks that I wanted to use. I don't reflect this humidifier is meant for shipping. The at the start time I received it was completely broken and wouldn't even work. I reflect the motor is too heavy and became detached from the plastic that surrounds it. Amazon was splendid about replacing immediately, but it was soothe to a degree broken when I received. Was in effective order, but I would not urge the manufactured goods based on it's inability to be shipped lacking life damaged.

Easy to fill and sterile and uses the same fill up wick I have used in the past which I can buy locally.

The humidifier indoors in good condition, and works well, but is badly calculated. When I take the top off to refill it, the filter comes partway out with the top - leaving me to struggle to detach it with one hand while holding the top awkwardly with the other. Tiresome to put the top back on is also tiresome as the filter has to fit into a slot on the cover. All in all, awkward.

The unit claims productivity of 3-1/2 gallons per day. Maybe in a lab. But in the dead of chill with temps in the childish adulthood and very dry air, I have not ever been able to get productivity of even 1 gal. over 24 hours, with all settings at max. Was in tension for advertised productivity, but not even accurate. There is no auto-shutoff when the fill up everlastingly does run dry, so it will keep on in succession when void, in succession blind, and not even an indicator light (or a bark, whine or meow) to let you know your modest supporter desires fill up. On the plus side, it turns on when you turn the "on" knob on.
