I earlier had a Sears develop and chose this in view of the fact that it was the first supplier. It has all of the facial appearance I liked from the before Sears: overnight room, nice fill up treatment, and calm down surgical course of action.Alas, it has the one real pain I did not like in this area the Sears - the fussy protection batter. This exists on the side of the unit to see the incidence of the fill up tank before to engaging the humidification potential. Even if, one typically has to keep fidgeting with the tank to get the batter to work. On the Sears unit I got so frustrated I austerely wired it out of surgical course of action. My old Sears suffered a cracked base and ongoing leaking but only with many hours of benefit, so I'm keen to give this unit a chance (plus I had surplus filters...). Take the manual's information and only use distilled fill up. Masonry boost can be a real conundrum to keep at bay if you use tap fill up.

The humidifier seems to work fine: It has a working humidistat; the vapor output is adequate for a single room; and it runs quietly. However, after a couple of days of surgical procedure, it started to leak and over the course of the next day slowly dumped about a gallon of water onto the floor. This even with being on a hard, flat, level go up (I confirmed by my Swanson Tool TL011 9-Inch Speedlite Torpedo Level). So it's inane back.

I love this humidifier. I just ordered a extra one to replace an old one I bought last time that I didn't take care of. It lasted 16 months lacking EVER being cleaned... I didn't bother to read the instructions on keeping care of it. Flush after 16 months, the absorbtion pad was in pretty good shape. However, we single use distilled water. I ended up needing to buy a extra one because the underneath of the element was cracked and damaged. I single thought to check because it just recently started making more noise than usual. The reason it is cracked on the bottom also probably has to do with me forgetting to turn it off and it running made known of water. Flush even if it turns itself off, after being on all nighttime and time, and being confined to a small space, the heating element will be hot and probably dried made known the plastic since it didn't have any water to absorp the excitement when cooling. Therefore the cracking. Overall, this is a great product and I am bowled over at the reviews. I wouldn't be buying another one if I didn't think it was worth it. Again, the single reason I am replacing mine is because I did NOT take care of the first one. And when I display I had it for 16 months, I mean it ran every nighttime, for 16 months honest, lacking being cleaned. I think that is pretty darn up good... can't wait to think it over how long it will last with me taking better care of it.I did research other units but liked this one so much that I had to get on to another. I like the big reservoir because I don't have to refill it every nighttime and I already have owned the product so I know what to expect. I probably won't clean this extra element but maybe once a week. I did buy superfluous absorption sleeves and think I might use two and switch them made known every week when I clean it. That gives the sheath time to dried made known after I clean it. I single use distilled water and don't keep the element on high, I run it on low and don't put the humidity level all the way up. (It is between a 1 and 2, if you are looking at a timer.) It is also super quiet.

This humidifier is compact, calm down and effectual in humidifing a generous bedroom. It will run all night on high, longer on low.

I bought this humidifier to replace an old humidifier in our bedroom. This one is nice and compact for a 2.5 gallon develop and is very reasonably compared to additional humidifiers. My favorite feature is how long the water lasts. On high the humidifier easily runs the entire night and on low the humidifier runs from as we go to bed until lunch without needing a refill.

This is a smart point for a warm-mist humidifier, but there are issues. The first unit I expected (manifest with a manufacture date of September 2012) had two harms. First, it leaked over and over again; the overflow tank in the base to the top up everytime I used it, and then small amounts of water would evenly leak out of the unit. Following, the batter was rumor has it that miswired, and the unit in fact used more electricity when set to 'low' than when it was set to 'high'!I returned this unit to Amazon and promptly expected a following unit in chat. This unit (manifest with a manufacture date of May 2012) has been fine. The overflow tank has remained absolutely dry, and the unit has not leaked once. The unit draws more contemporary on 'high' than on 'low,' as it must. Even if, the makings buyers must be aware that this humidfier is a real energy hog. Leisurely with my trusty Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Meter , it uses approximately 240 watts on the low background. This is near twice the energy used by two other warm-mist humidifiers I've experienced person; my old Bionaire humidifier used 136 watts on low, and a Vicks warm mist humidifier I just check in a store also used almost 135 watts on low. Judging by the amount of water used, I don't judge that the Optimus is putting much more damp into the air than my old Bionaire did (indeed not twice as much!)The humidistat is a very helpful map, and if one sets the humidistat to a evenhanded level the unit will cycle on and off all owing to the night, so that the by and large energy usage isn't too bad. Even if, if one just cranks the humidistat to 'max' and foliage the unit on, be set to burn a LOT of electricity. The unit draws almost 315 watts on 'high'. The manufacturer has told me that they have expected other complaints that the contemporary draw on the low and high settings is too akin, and that they plan to revise the switching circuitry in mid-2013. Whether the new batter will lower contemporary draw on 'low' they couldn't say.If not, the unit appears to be well made and the point is exceptional. The following unit has been leak-free and the the wick/sock/filter on the heating constituent does cause the unit to run peacefully (it's MUCH quieter than the Bionaire was) while also choice to preclude masonry build-up. I in person very warm mist over cool mist designs even even if the cool mist designs are far more energy well-methodical since cool mist humidifiers have the the makings to announce mold and bacteria. The filters cool mist humidifiers use to avoid this may not be perfectly commanding, can be high-priced, and often power nano-silver which presents its own environmental and toxicity risks.

My family really likes the warm mist humidifier. We excitement our home with wood which makes for a dried made known house, so we use this right through the Maine heating season. We also have the two reservoir translation of the Optimus humidifier. get on to sure you get on to the replacement wicks and clean it weekly and you should be OK. I know the the manufacturer and others have suggested using distilled water but we use ours a lot, and with the price of distilled water it's probably easier to try and keep the element clean and buy a extra one when it's too bad. It should take a couple years to get on to to that point.

The humidifier facility fine and is straightforward to take dead early all additional and deposit in trade collectively. The reservoir and dishonest are straightforward to sterile, save pro not the foremost element. THe heating constituent gets crusted including a dissipate of time items. I void the element and sterile the filter pad which encases the heating constituent save pro the constituent itself get on to crusted. The directions display to aid distilled fill up save pro this would be prohibitively high-priced as the business is on all the calculate.

So far so good. Humidity on a low-cost barometer goes from under 20% to about 50% on high for a minute. Helping me sleep immensely. Had to put it on a flat go up for it to work, fills extremely easily. Also seems to warm room quite a bit but might be a comfort level thing.

I didn't admit anything in this vicinity humidifiers or what the lofty deal was. My 5 time ancient has had trouble with coughing at nocturnal pro reasonably some time, save pro just it got to the top where she coughed so violently with the intention of she vomited. This happened on two different occasions a week apart, so we headed to the allergist (she is allergic to household dust - or dust mites extra likely). The allergist told us with the intention of a humidifier would "doubtless aid." Currently we aid an inhaler every nocturnal, and go on the humidifier on distinguished all nocturnal in her room. On just the first nocturnal she slept 4 hours earlier period as she usually wakes up coughing. I didn't norm to test it, save pro tonight something happened with the water properly big the underside section, so it didn't initiation humidifying... guaranteed enough, at 1am she woke up hacking, asking pro a bowl. A unadorned removal and re-fit of the tank and the humidifier was going again, and she's fast asleep. It runs quietly. Tank is easy to fill, and can go on on distinguished pro a skilled 10-12 hours. The release thing I'm not idiotic in this vicinity is the "Wicking Mist Logic" ... in the end there's a modest felted sleeve with the intention of fits over the heating element to bump the mineral deposits and gross material in the water I estimate. You're held to rinse the sleeve every time you aid it, save pro even so, mineral deposit builds up around the top of the heating element. I'm using filtered water, and the sleeve is still caked with brownish mineral deposit with the intention of you're held to rub away with your fingers under in succession water. Just sort of gross, and a modest extra maintenance than I probable. I estimate it's nice to admit with the intention of junk isn't in the air though.UPDATE: The sleeves are void in a 3 amount pro $15 at this time on Amazon. I old 1 sleeve pro 3 months, in succession humidifier day after day with filtered water, previous to replacing. I also manually chipped the mineral deposit off the heating element - unplugged of way - save pro it was super thick in places, be fond of 1/4 - 1/2" thick. I can't imagine it really functioning properly over time if those deposits are not removed.
