I have been using a humidifier in my bedroom for the last 12 years with no conundrum. I just bought this one for the plant sales vehicle, and after about 2 months of use, there is a gray film on all the parts. Since it's in the baby's room, I have been good about cleaning it as not compulsory but the film is just being paid worse. Consumer relations confirmed that it is since of hard water deposits, but I've never had this conundrum with my other humidifiers! - DebraD
